Umar Nurmagomedov names newborn after Khabib’s father, does not want son to become MMA fighter

At the UFC Vegas 57 event, the bantamweight prospect Umar Nurmagomedov defeated Nate Maness by unanimous decision. Umar was questioned about the significance of naming his kid after his late uncle at the post-fight press conference.

Umar Nurmagomedov paid tribute to his late uncle by naming his newborn baby Abdulmanap. The baby was named after Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father.

Umar said: “My father chose this name. He said, ‘I’m going to give him my uncle’s name, Abdulmanap.”

However, Nurmagomedov doesn’t anticipate his kid following in his footsteps and entering the world of fighting. The bantamweight boxer said emphatically that he wants his youngster to choose a different path:

“I really hope my son never comes to mixed martial arts like this. But even if he wants, I don’t want to take him in. I hope he’s gonna be like Doctor, Engineer because this is very hard.”

Just two days before his victory at UFC Vegas 57, Umar Nurmagomedov’s kid was born. Due to the scheduling of his fight, Umar was unable to experience the birth of his son. However, he can now celebrate when he returns home.

Umar Nurmagomedov increased his winning streak to 15-0 with his most recent victory. This leaves him 14 victories shy of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s perfect 29-0 record.

On the other hand, Khabib Nurmagomedov was there to corner Umar Nurmagomedov in his contest with Nate Maness at UFC Vegas 57. Khabib made the choice to hang back and watch Mateusz Gamrot and Arman Tsarukyan’s major match.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was seen spending some time with Gamrot in the stadium after his tense decision victory against Tsarukyan.

Gamrot stated that Khabib complimented him on the significant victory. He reiterated that he sees him facing Islam Makhachev in the future during the post-fight press conference.

Gamrot said: “Khabib said to me, ‘Congratulations on your fight. You are a nice guy. For sure in the future you will meet Islam [Makhachev] in a fight.'”

Gamrot said during the interview that he wants Islam Makhachev to defeat Charles Oliveira in a future lightweight championship fight. He also said that before facing Makhachev, he intends to defeat Justin Gaethje.
