The Iranian Hulk has been a somewhat of an online fixation as far back as 2015. From the very get go, the Iranian was matched with Martyn Ford. Ford is 9 years his senior, and clearly more versed at the art of self promotion.
There were rumors about them facing each other as far back as 2018. At the time, the clash was to be in MMA – not boxing and to be facilitated by one of Europe’s biggest promotions KSW. At the time it was believed that the Iranian had had some wrestling experience. While the rumors had gone mainstream and made it into Daily mail, those close to KSW vehemently denied this going so far as to claim they didn’t even know of Gharibi.
Time had passed and for a while there were no news of the match up. But now Gharibi claims the boxing negotiations started when Ford insulted him live.
“It started back in 2019 when I was insulted in a live broadcast and I was totally indifferent to it. Maybe not many of my fellow citizens have seen it but I preferred that I respond to it silently.”
“Once more in 2021 the British opponent came into my DM and continued to insult me again…I didn’t pay much attention to this incident and ignored it but after he started (insulting) my fans and also a series of stories that were more of an insult to my fans I was forced to respond to him.”
In 2021 Ford had a mock troll of Gharibi’s go viral. The troll was captioned:
“So, turns out Iranian Hulk now has challenged me twice …….. IF this guy does pass a medical, im definitely game for a scrap … HOWEVER I need a disclaimer that he is of sound mind … BECAUSE everything that he’s sent and done over the last week, well quite frankly makes me question his mental state of mind.”
Gharibi yesterday went on to accuse his opponent of creating a ‘poisonous atmosphere’ toward him.
“I heard that in an interview he recently might have come and said that Sajjad
was not what I was looking for and again has created a poisonous
atmosphere against me, and I don’t think he had any other nonsense to say to explain why he cancelled his fight and he couldn’t have said it straight –
that he was scared and stressed and that he couldn’t take this fight on”
