(Video) Usman Nurmagomedov Secures Quick Sub, calls for title shot

Usman Nurmagomedov is a lightweight mixed martial artist who has never been defeated. He squared up against Chris Gonzalez, a star from Team Alpha Male last night at Bellator 283.

The welterweight main event featured Douglas Lima and Jason Jackson. It was the promotion’s first visit to Tacoma, Washington.

People are undoubtedly already aware that Usman is related to Khabib Nurmagomedov, a former lightweight champion of the UFC. Usman was facing one of his most difficult challenges to date against Gonzalez.

Prior to the bout, Nurmagomedov was accused of running over a police officer with a car in his home of Dagestan. Even though Nurmagomedov was initially taken in the police station nothing came of the case. Usman had claimed he was not the one driving – that he was asleep in the backseat of the car.

His grandmother had something different to say.

“He knows his own law, but he just does not know the police law. “

“He is also young. Very sociable, calm by nature, respectful. The guys were probably in a hurry. He will deliberately never do this in his life, ” Usman’s grandmother said in a video.

At least, it seemed that way on paper. However, the Russian once again made it look effortless.

Usman started with three kicks in the opening seconds of round 1, all at various levels. They left Gonzalez surprised. Early on, the Dagestani displayed some posture changes. After around 90 seconds, Gonzalez blocked a high kick.

Gonzalez attempted to switch gears on Nurmagomedov and tried for a takedown. Instead of a takedown attempt succeeding, the two exchanged knees. Then Nurmagomedov used a trip and immediately jumped on the neck with a choke. Gonzalez was forced to submit after a few agonizing seconds because the guillotine choke was locked in.

Usman Nurmagomedov is up to 15-0 after the win.

Nurmagomedov said during his in-cage interview, “I want a title shot.” Usman Nurmagomedov is inching closer to his cousin Khabib’s perfect record with each victory.

Official Result: Usman Nurmagomedov defeats Chris Gonzalez in Round 1 at 2:54 with a submission (guillotine choke).

After the bout, Nurmagomedov asked for a title shot with the help of his cousin/translator Khabib.
