Fans roast UFC over epic poster screw up: ‘Dana better fire someone!’

UFC just had one of the bigger screw ups on a broadcast. UFC Vegas 59 was headlined by Jamahal Hill going up against former title challenger Thiago Santos – and yet the UFC graphics department featured a picture of Jamahal Hill with his distinct tattoos instead of Leon Edwards on the poster for UFC 278.

Edwards is given his much anticipated title shot against Kamaru Usman. He last appeared in the cage against Nate Diaz in a convincing 5 round decision victory.

and commented on it on social media.

Couple of replies stand out with Brunson labeling Edwards a ‘bad boy’ for switching divisions in a matter of weeks.

Belal Muhammad poked fun at Usman and implied he was moving to light heavyweight.

Ariel Helwani also roasted the UFC and indicated this would be a historic twist if it were to materialize.

Edwards has been waiting for his title shot for over two years. As a UK resident, he was severly impacted by Covid restrictions and as a result was skipped over several times.

Edwards was also willing to face Khamzat Chimaev when many ranked welterweights were not. UFC boss was quoted saying:

“I want to point out too, we were having a matchmaking meeting on Tuesday and I’m always like nobody wants to fight [Khamzat], nobody wants to fight him. Leon Edwards signed a bout agreement to fight him and I think he was ranked number three at the time and you know, so I just wanted to make that clear publicly that he absolutely stepped up to fight him, signed a bout agreement, and then Khamzat got COVID, so that was the end of that… I’m bringing it up because I said that and never gave that kid the credit that he deserves…”
