Seven years ago, the amicable relationship between Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya took a sharp turn as tensions flared during the buildup to the Mayweather vs. McGregor crossover bout. Since then, there has been no reconciliation between the two.
Recently, Oscar De La Hoya expressed a keen interest in stepping into the mixed martial arts arena against the UFC President. Despite residing in the same city of Las Vegas, the two haven’t crossed paths.
In a conversation with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, the International Boxing Hall of Famer not only discussed potential matchups but also threw light on a potential clash between Ryan Garcia and Sean O’Malley.

He stated: “Does he have purple hair now or what color is it now? I like him. He’s a good striker… It would be a hell of a promotion. I would actually entertain that because Ryan can fight in the main event with this kid and maybe I can do Dana on the co-main… We’re cool, but it’s all good – I mean, I don’t know if we’re cool. I mean, I haven’t talked to the guy… I’m good, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t go at it.”
De La Hoya continued, saying that even though White and him both reside in Las Vegas they had never met.

Ryan Garcia recently called O’Malley out for an MMA bout. In a recent episode on his podcast, O’Malley vowed to inflict serious injuries on the boxer should they ever square off in a cage.
He said: “Brother, I would kill you within minutes… It’s not even realistic… It’s crazy how stupid and delusional that is. It is a little bit crazy when I call out a boxer, a little bit. Not a ton, not a 100% crazy, just a little bit. When boxers say they want to fight in MMA, it’s a 100% crazy.”
As of now, it seems like Garcia should focus on his upcoming boxing match with Devin Haney instead.
