Michael Bisping Tries On New Glass Eye and Finds Humor in His Predicament

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has embraced humor in the face of adversity stemming from his MMA journey.

Bisping has sported one eye for numerous years now, a consequence of an injury sustained during a knockout loss to Vitor Belfort in 2013.

In a recent video shared on social media, Bisping offered his fans a glimpse into the life of a retired competitor living in the world with one eye.

In the video, Bisping shares his experience of getting a new prosthetic eye.

Bisping said: “I’m here at the eye doctor. We all know I have one messed up eye. I’m getting a new eye fitted. They did a mould and here is the result of the mould.”

Bisping then uses the new mold to cover his injured right eye and explains what has to be done before it can be used.

He continues: “Let’s check it out. As you can see, it hasn’t been painted yet.”

“What they do is they hand paint it to match the other one because what happens is every few years the eyeball shrinks a little bit and then the fitting doesn’t move quite as well, it’s not in sync with the other eye.”

“Currently it’s making it a little bit bulbous. So what they’ll do is trim it down, so it doesn’t bulge out of my eye, and I don’t look quite as psycho as I do now.”

Bisping’s wife Rebecca was there to provide moral support and reassured him that his newly eye prosthesis looked flawless. She stated: “I think you look great, babe.”

After taking a closer look with his phone camera, Bisping jokes: “You can’t even tell! It’s perfect!”

Remarkably, Bisping competed for many years despite only having one eye. In 2016, he overcame all odds to defeat Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 to win the world championship.
