However, Okoye soon cleared the air by sharing a follow-up video in which he explained that he had a skin infection called cellulitis. The infection was a result of a leg injury, and if left untreated, it could have been fatal. The symptoms of cellulitis include swelling, redness, and fever.

In his follow-up video, Okoye emphasized that the infection was treatable and that the holes on his leg were no longer visible. He also dismissed the speculations of people suggesting that he had heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, or diabetes.

Lawrence Okoye has had a successful career in both track and field and the NFL. He made his Olympic debut in the 2012 summer games and later switched to the NFL, playing for various teams, including Dolphins, Jets, Cowboys, Cardinals, and Team Great Britain.
