(Video) 58 year old boxer scores KO victory

Former WBC Heavyweight champion Oliver McCall made a triumphant return to professional boxing at age 58, securing a second-round knockout victory over Stacy Frazier at Nashville’s Troubadour venue on Tuesday night.

McCall (60-14-2), who hadn’t competed professionally since 2019, faced the 54-year-old Frazier (16-23) in the main event of Country Box 25 Fight Night. Despite the five-year age difference, McCall’s superior skill proved decisive.

The opening round saw Frazier establish movement behind his jab while looking to time his overhand shots. McCall methodically stalked his opponent, throwing few strikes until landing a powerful right hand to Frazier’s temple near the round’s end, scoring the first knockdown.

Though Frazier survived the initial round, his movement noticeably slowed in the second. McCall, nicknamed “The Atomic Bull,” pressed forward with renewed confidence, securing two more knockdowns. The final one proved decisive as Frazier was unable to beat the referee’s count.

With this victory, McCall set a new record as the oldest former heavyweight champion to win a professional boxing match, according to BoxRec. His championship pedigree dates back to 1994 when he captured the WBC title by defeating Lennox Lewis. McCall successfully defended his belt against Larry Holmes before losing it to Frank Bruno. In a 1997 rematch with Lewis for the vacant title, McCall fell short in the fifth round.

The historic win adds another remarkable chapter to McCall’s lengthy career in professional boxing, demonstrating that age hasn’t diminished his power or competitive spirit.
