Dana White Confirms Mayweather’s Money Issues: I’ve Spoken To Him About It Personally

Dana White addressed the growing reports surrounding Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s financial troubles during a post-event press conference, confirming that he has spoken to Mayweather personally about the situation.

When asked for his thoughts on headlines reporting that Mayweather had lost around $170 million, White did not shy away from the topic, though he was measured in what he shared.

“Yeah, that’s a tough one and I’ve talked to him about it, but I don’t know enough about it,” White said. “You hear all these different stories. I think you have to wait to see how this thing’s going to play out in court for him.”

White was clearly sympathetic toward the former pound-for-pound champion, acknowledging the sheer scale of what Mayweather built over his career and how painful it would be to see that disappear.

“When somebody works as hard as he did and amasses the type of wealth that he had and then they lose it or it gets stolen or whatever the deal is, it’s horrible and it happens a lot in professional sports,” White said.

He stopped short of pointing fingers or making definitive claims about what happened, noting that details are still playing out legally and that there are too many conflicting versions of events circulating right now to draw firm conclusions.

What stood out, however, was White hinting that there could be a path forward for Mayweather through the sport itself. When pressed on whether there was anything that could be done, White left the door open.

“Who knows, anything is possible. Maybe we could do something and figure it out for him,” he said.

That comment, brief as it was, will likely fuel speculation about a potential Mayweather involvement with the UFC’s boxing venture, Zuffa Boxing, in some capacity. White has made no secret of wanting the biggest names in the sport under his umbrella, and Mayweather remains one of the most recognizable figures in combat sports history.

White also used the moment to speak more broadly about financial realities for boxers, tying it into Zuffa Boxing’s global reach. He pointed to the promotion’s 24 broadcast deals across 93 countries as part of what they can offer boxers, not just financially but in terms of visibility.

“Making money is really important, but as many people as possible on Earth seeing the things that you did and accomplished is equally as important,” White said.
