UFC Vet Jake Shields sells Disney stock to protest their opposition to parental rights law

MMA veteran and PFL welterweight contender Jake Shields recently took to Twitter to condemn an entertainment powerhouse – Disney.

43 year old came to his decision after he found out that Disney is opposing Florida’s Parental Rights Law.

The Bill was signed on March 28 by Governor Ron DeSantis. Its purpose is to prohibit “classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through 3rd grade and prohibits instruction that is not age-appropriate for students and requires school districts to adopt procedures for notifying parents if there is a change in services from the school regarding a child’s mental, emotional or physical health or well-being.” (via FL Gov)

Disney put out a statement on Twitter opposing the bill, the same day it was signed.

A couple of days later, Jake Shield announced on Twitter that he no longer supports Disney and has sold 100% of Disney stocks he owned.

“Read about Disney and immediately sold 100% of my Disney stock and will try not to support them in any way in the future.” Jake wrote.

Another powerful voice who supports the so called ‘don’t say gay’ bill is UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan. Rogan has been quoted saying he doesn’t want anyone indoctrinating his kids anyway and would rather the parents have the opportunity to advise their kids.

Listen, your your teachers are not supposed to be the people that explain gender to a f—ing seven year old. Yeah, it’s just the Who are these teachers? And how do you do you know what their perspective is? Are they intelligent about it? Are they trying to indoctrinate the child to any particular point of view, whether it’s pro transgender or anti transgender or anti gay or pro gay? They shouldn’t have any say at all, when you’re talking to a seven year old kid, I mean, I feel like that is the job of the parents.”

“When kids get older and they you know, they develop feelings for either the same sex or opposite sex or they feel like they’re in the wrong button. And then these conversations should be had by qualified people that can discuss this from a nuanced perspective and understand what the psychology of a young person who’s trying to figure out who they are in the world is. ”

“But the idea that this is, don’t say gay, because you’re, you’re you’re saying that ages, you know, first grade to third grade, that you shouldn’t be bringing up the subjects to them. I think a lot of people are saying no, I just don’t want you grooming my kids for whatever your ideology is, whether it’s a right wing ideology or a left wing ideology. I want you to teach them f—ing science.”

The MMA veteran has won multiple world titles in several promotions.

The veteran never really announced his retirement from mixed-martial-arts and is currently signed with PFL. What many don’t realize is that Shields is a single parent to his daughter.

He has stepped into the cage a total of 45 times coming up victorious 33 times, losing 11 times (with one draw). At one point in his career Shields was on a 15-fight winning streak. Nowadays he is often seen vocalizing his political opinions on social media.
