Rose Namajunas joins Chloe Grace Moretz and Lupita Nyong’o in new UFC movie

In the realm of mixed martial arts, the UFC stands as the largest promotion in the world. With over two decades of evolution, the UFC has experienced unparalleled growth. The year 2024 is poised to be yet another milestone in its journey.

UFC’s unparalleled success is a result of a carefully crafted formula. From strategic marketing to delivering high-quality matches and boasting a roster of elite combatants, the organization has mastered the art of providing top-notch entertainment to its diverse global audience.

The impact of UFC extends far beyond the confines of the octagon, reaching into the heart of the entertainment industry. One notable example is the film sector, which has witnessed a surge in movies either referencing or revolving around the UFC and its athletes.

Recent endeavors include an upcoming documentary featuring Khabib and the collaboration between Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor in the movie ‘Roadhouse.’ According to reports from Variety, another movie that is centered on two female UFC competitors is currently in the works.

Announced by the producers of ‘Extraction’ and ‘Hereditary,’ ‘Strawweight’ is a UFC-based mixed martial arts drama. It focuses on the lives of two female competitors. Lupita Nyong’o and Chloe Grace Moretz will play the key characters in the film. The movie traces the careers of two competitors who end up going up against one another in a cage.

According to Variety, Moretz will play a teenage competitor whose life is transformed when she finds her love for mixed martial arts. Lupita Nyong’o will play the role of a former champion who is adamant about getting back to her previous level of success.

At the end of the day, both competitors seek “respect.” CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are launching it in the European Film Market.

Excitement builds for UFC enthusiasts as Rose Namajunas plays a pivotal role in ‘Strawweight.’ The former two-time women’s strawweight champion only serves as a combat consultant in the film.

Namajunas will not only be involved in the filming but also serve as one of its executive producers. The female MMA competitor has a 12-6-0 professional record. She has nine victories and two title defenses in her 14 UFC bouts. Namajunas is presently rated eighth in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings and competes in the flyweight class.
