Nate Diaz is the OG comedian, debunks McGregor trilogy rumors

Nate Diaz just delivered one for the ages. It’s the end of an era with Diaz finishing out his UFC contract.

Diaz had to address the rumors of a McGregor trilogy once again after his triumph over Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279.

The Stockton native was amused by assertions that he and McGregor have some type of backroom deal due to meet for their trilogy outside the UFC.

“Congrats Nate Diaz on making it to the end of his contractual obligations with the UFC, and as a bonafide superstar goer. An incredible feat. Fair play. Our trilogy will happen.” McGregor wrote on twitter.

McGregor’s statement mirrors what Diaz said days prior to UFC 279.

“It’s for sure going to happen at some point” Diaz told media.

“When we match up, we match up. We ain’t going nowhere.”

But Diaz had a different tune when he was asked about it at the press conference.

“I don’t even think he wanted (trilogy with McGregor), he wanted to just get out because look at, look at what, all the other fighters are doing. Tyron Woodley all that. They’re a big brand, they’re marketing their business and opening their brand. It’s not about a boxing game.” Diaz team member Yancy Medeiros revealed couple months earlier.

Of course, it’s also worth mentioning that Diaz took a dig at McGregor in his departing speech from the promotion.

“All I know there’s been a love hate relationship with me and the UFC , the whole time I’ve been in this f*cking in this organization. But at the end of the day, I love the UFC. Shout out to Dana White, Lorenzo Fertita and Hunter Campbell for giving the opportunities and the platform the whole time. For everybody and for myself, I feel like I’m the most.”

“Right now, I feel like I’ve had the longest career in the UFC and I’ve had the most successful one and everybody, and I outdid everybody on pay and I get everybody on surviving. And I want to, I want to get out of the UFC for a minute and show these UFC fighters how to take over and own up another sport, how you’re supposed to do it.”

“Because Conor McGregor didn’t know how to do it and none of these other fighters know how to do it. So I’m going to go I’m going to go out there and I’m going to take over another work, another or another profession, and become the best at that show.”

“Everybody, I’m the best of that and have them be right the f*ck back here to get a motherf*cking UFC title, the best title in the world.”
