Mike Tyson explained why he fell asleep during a live TV interview

Boxing legend Mike Tyson hilariously fell asleep during a live TV interview last year. The former world champion recently explained the reason behind the little incident.

Mike Tyson had a little incident during a live interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. The three were having a light discussion ahead of his exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.

During the interview, Tyson can be seen bowing his head while Reid was asking a pretty long question. Tyson managed to get back to his senses after Reid finished her question. However, things got a bit worse as the 56-year-old started to cuss.

A lot of fans assumed that it was probably due to having consumed some pot before the interview. But, it turned out the reason had something to do with his match with Jones. The incident got brought back again during an interview with Talk TV. Tyson was asked about the reason behind his sleepiness throughout the whole interview.

Tyson explained that he was in pain due to excessively training for the upcoming match. Due to that, he took some pain meds that had side effects of drowsiness.

“I had hurt myself at that particular time. I was training. I received some pain killers from my wife and after I received these pain killers I was just incapable of articulating anything. It was just a mess. It was my fault, everybody. It was my fault” Tyson said.

That wasn’t the only time the boxing great fell asleep on stage. Tyson also fell asleep on his podcast ‘Hotboxin’. In the episode that was released a year ago, he invited former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and fell asleep while Khabib was busy talking.

Mike Tyson came out of retirement in 2020 to box fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout. He was aiming to have another match and was eyeing a potential opponent. Unfortunately, often shows signs that he is not in a good health condition and might not be able to return anytime soon.
