Dillon Danis finally secured a lucrative boxing date. A
Danis and KSI got into it during the weigh-ins. Danis struck the YouTuber and tossed a coffee at him as they came face to face. Fortunately, they were separated, and Danis left the building.
This was a staged altercations more than likely designed to help build up hype for their now official boxing bout.
What was probably authentic was the exchange Danis had with MMA veteran turned celeb boxer Anthony Taylor. Taylor hit and wobbled Danis outside of the weigh ins yesterday – for which Danis got thoroughly roasted by the MMA community.
During the Misfits event, it was confirmed that on January 14, there will be a boxing match between KSI and Dillon Danis on MF & DAZN X Series 004. It will be a pay-per-view event at OVO Arena Wembley in London.
Dillon Danis has basically talked himself out of any sort of legitimacy in combat sports.
Danis started his professional sports career in jiu-jitsu. He was a black belt under a generational talent that was Marcelo Garcia. But Garcia quickly got tired of Danis’ antics once he joined McGregor’s coaching staff and distanced himself from Danis.
Danis proceeded to put on lackluster performances as a grappler – mostly due to not respecting his own physical limits. A great example of this was when Danis was roughly 77kg, he moved up to ADCC’s 88kg division (in part due to Garcia banishing him from the team) – at which point he was paired up with gigantic looking Gordon Ryan who edged out a victory via referee’s decision.
From there, Danis went to MMA. And here his reputation sank to a new low. Day in and out, Danis was calling out legitimate legends and prospects all while occasionally facing no name competitors himself.
It all led up to the reveal that Danis was forced to undergo a knee reconstruction – which has kept him sidelined for multiple years (and actually had to be re-done since it didn’t take the first time).
Danis was never known for his striking so he’s likely a fair match up for youtuber turned boxer KSI. Not to mention this clash could be a gateway for Danis into the world of celeb boxing due to his longterm beef with both Paul brothers.
