“Gilbert Landed More Strikes”- Joe Rogan shares his thoughts on UFC 273 clash between Burns and Chimaev

Welterweight showdown between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev raised many interesting questions.

The undefeated Khamzat Chimaev went the distance with Gilbert Burns. This is the first time in his career that a bout went to the judges scorecards.

In the third round, Khamzat started out strong while Burns rallied back at the end of the round.

All three octagon-side judges eventually gave the round for Chimaev, awarding him 29-28 decisions on all scorecards.

Many fans and athletes have been calling the outcome a robbery considering they scored the round for Burns.

Joining the heated debate, UFC color commentator Joe Rogan also shared his thoughts about the controversial result.

On a recent episode of his podcast show, The Joe Rogan Experience, he shared:

“I mean that was an amazing performance. He spun Khamzat’s face around with that right hand like holy f**k, Khamzat has a f***ing chin man, cause Glibert cracked him. Oh my goodness, what a fight, what a fight!”

He also talked about Burns’ social media posts, where he claimed to land more strikes than his Swedish counterpart, implying that he should’ve got the win.

However, Rogan wasn’t on the same page as Burns, as he says Chimaev landed the heavier shots on Burns despite landing fewer.

“Gilbert landed more strikes. Gilbert posted on his Instagram the numbers, the breakdown of the numbers. Which obviously doesn’t mean everything, because like a person could land, a person could land crazy shots, someone plants you with one. That one counts way more.”

In conclusion, Rogan still believes the judges’ were right to give the last round to Chimaev but he did acknowledge how impressed he was with Burns as well.
