Recently, Chael Sonnen took a jab at an OnlyFans model named ‘Tilly’ by referencing the fairy tale Cinderella.
While some may find his comment distasteful, it’s not out of character for the outspoken Sonnen.
Part of the MMA fanbase slammed Sonnen saying his comments perpetuate harmful stereotypes and stigmas around that kind of work which can lead to discrimination, harassment, and even worse.
This stigma can also make it difficult to access healthcare, social services, and legal protections. Moreover, it might reinforce harmful ideas about gender, which can have broader negative impacts on society as a whole.
While some argue Sonnen delivered fair criticism other also point out that his commentary helped the so called model attract even more attention.
At the Bellator 170 presser conference, Tito Ortiz claimed that Sonnen was getting his opportunities by “using his mouth”.
Sonnen responded with his most hilarious comeback to date: “The only person I know that made money using their mouth is his ex-wife.”
The comment elicited chuckles from Ortiz before he called Sonnen a ‘punk’. While Sonnen may have won the verbal battle, he lost the actual event as Ortiz submitted him in the first round.
On another occasion, UFC president Dana White showed his dissatisfaction with UFC veteran Chael Sonnen over a joke he made on air.
Sonnen poked fun at famous singer Rihanna, who was assaulted by his ex Chris Brown in 2009. The former light heavyweight contender slammed Rihanna.
“Look, Floyd needs to keep doing what he’s doing, which is fighting complete tomato cans that we’ve never heard of before. I’ve never seen anybody in the history of America get so rich and so famous off of having complete wimps throw a punch at their faces, and I know what you’re saying. You’re saying, “Well, it’s happened before, what about Rihanna?”
Sonnen also dismissed a Tito Ortiz rematch earlier last year in a hilarious fashion. Ortiz announced that their rematch is in the works.
“But I’ll be competing my one last time in the beginning of February. Tito Ortiz versus Chael Sonnen and number two will be happening. For freedom fight night. And I’m excited. I’m really excited in mixed martial arts, not boxing and mixed martial arts. Correct at 205lbs. ”
But now Chael Sonnen denied the claims saying:
“Tito, when you text from your Pay-As-You-Go 7–11 cel phone your message loses a bit of potency.” Sonnen tweeted.
“If you’re good at playing a character, they will pay you. If you’re great at playing a character, you will pay them. Marks are going to Mark.” He wrote in another tweet.
