Black Roganverse Comedian Explains Why He’s In Ben Shapiro’s Movie

David Lucas, a comedian from Tony Hinchcliffe’s circuit recently addressed his controversial role in the Daily Wire film produced by Ben Shapiro. The movie has drawn widespread criticism for its depiction of Islamic characters and what many viewers describe as propaganda messaging.

In behind-the-scenes footage, Lucas was asked directly about his participation in the project. His response revealed a purely transactional approach to the opportunity.

“You’re not an artist,” Lucas said when addressing critics. “And opportunities come few and far in between sometimes. So, sometimes you just got to get what you can get, just like you.”

Lucas compared his decision to anyone working a job they dislike to pay bills and support their family. He made no attempt to defend the film’s content, its creators, or its messaging. Instead, he focused solely on his own performance.

He acknowledged that many weren’t happy about his involvement but dismissed concerns about Daily Wire’s association with the project.

Lucas stated, “Are you working your dream job? No. You probably dislike your job, but you’re still there, right? Cuz you got to feed your kids and have a place to live.”

For a movie that has been described as overtly Islamophobic, featuring narratives about groups threatening American communities, this silence is notable. Lucas simply stated it was his first full-length feature film and moved on.

Lucas also urged people to watch that movie and decide for themselves. He said, “We’re artists. We putting stuff out, bro. We don’t know what’s going to hit with y’all. We filmed the movie and think that’s the best thing we ever did. It’s my first full-length feature.”

This pattern extends beyond Lucas. Actor Danny Trejo recently faced similar controversy for appearing in another Daily Wire production.

According to statements from his son, Trejo was misled about the nature of the project and believed he was participating in a film that would portray immigrants favorably, not realizing it would take a pro-ICE stance.
