Back in September of 2021, Khalil Rountree delivered a UFC first when he ‘knocked out’ Modestas Bukauskas with an oblique kick.
While we’ve seen these kicks before – often to a great detriment of the fighters there’s never been a finish like this.
And seeing the destruction and the repercussions Kevin Holland and Tim Means made a pact not to use this type of kick during their bout at UFC Austin.
The ‘agreement’ was made mid fight after Holland opened round two with an oblique kick to the front leg. Holland ultimately wobbled Means with punches in round two and locked in a d’arce choke.
As per Holland:
““It’s just a little thing, you know? I went to stomp on the thigh. Usually, I try to hit the knee and I told him I would avoid the knee and he said he would do the same, so overall just good stuff.”
In the co main event of UFC Austin, Holland submitted Tim Means with a D’arce choke in round 2.

Holland was pleased with the performance. Since moving down to welterweight, he’s 2-0. As for what’s next it’s unclear. Holland could be the next opponent for Sean Brady who is currently ranked at number 9.
