(Video) UFC Ref Herb Dean hilariously fumbles during result announcement

UFC referee Herb Dean hilariously forgot the names of the men competing during the Warlley Alves vs Nicolas Dalby matchup at UFC 283.

A clip is making the rounds, which shows Bruce Buffer announcing that Dalby had won the bout. However, Dean is clueless as to which one of the two competitors is Dalby.

So he pauses and hesitates to raise the arm of the winner with completely dumbfounded facial expressions. Eventually, Dean raises Dalby’s arm to officially declare him the victor.

Social media users are roasting Dean for not knowing such simple info.

Some are saying that he figured out the names when Warlley Alves walked away after the announcement. Others believe that he looked around to check the men’s ethnicities to match them with the name of the winner.

This is the second viral moment from this bout after Alves puffed his eye up by blowing his nose in between rounds.

While Dean is one of the most legendary officials in the UFC, the vet has messes up from time to time. He is mostly known for stopping fights prematurely.

His last slip-up was at UFC on ESPN+ 55, where he misjudged the Rogério de Lima vs Ben Rothwell bout.

The Brazilian had just gotten Rothwell in a choke after the latter tried for a takedown. Dean quickly stepped in and stopped the bout at just 32 seconds, ruining the co-main event.

Before that, he messed up at UFC 257, while officiating the match between Amanda Ribas and Marina Rodriguez.

Rodriguez dropped Ribas to the ground and Dean botched a stoppage. He stepped in and made contact with Rodriguez, which led her to believe that he was stopping the bout.

However, he just instructed her to continue as he realized that he didn’t want to end it.

Dean was also criticized heavily for stopping the high-profile matchup between Robbie Lawler and Ben Askren at UFC 235.
