(Video) UFC Champ Tom Aspinall Takes on ‘Dead Leg Challenge’ with Olympic Gymnast Nile Wilson

Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall exhibited his formidable skills in an unexpected encounter with British gymnast Nile Wilson.

In a video that was uploaded to his channel, Aspinall said: “I’m going to kick Nile Wilson in the leg, about 30% I reckon.”

The Olympic medallist was initially put to the test by the Salford, England native. He made a feint to see whether Wilson would recoil.

“He took my advice,” Aspinall said as Wilson remained put and prepared for the worst. Next, Aspinall launched a kick that knocked off Wilson.

For those unfamiliar, Nile Wilson achieved Olympic glory by securing a bronze medal in the men’s horizontal bar at the 2016 Summer Games. His accomplishments also include making history at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships as part of the first world men’s team to medal in British gymnastics history.

Following his impressive 69-second knockout victory over Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295, Tom Aspinall emerged as a formidable contender in the heavyweight division. After the win, Aspinall started setting the stage for a highly anticipated matchup with the reigning champion Jon Jones.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that UFC fans will see that match happen. After Apsinall’s impressive victory, Jones and UFC president Dana White made it plain that rescheduling Jones’s bout with former two-time champion Stipe Miocic was their first priority. This move might keep Aspinall on the sidelines for up to a year.

To make matters worse, Jones and Miocic have hinted that they would retire after the heavyweight GOAT match.

Aspinall is determined to defend his interim title this summer rather than wait around for something that could never happen. Curtis Blaydes just defeated Jailton Almeida by second-round knockout and is the most likely opponent.

In an interview with JN Media, Aspinall said: “Curtis Blaydes it is then. I’m easy, I’m the easiest person ever to entice into a fight. I’ve never turned one down yet. So anything that’s stopping me from fighting right now is not down to me, it’s down to the UFC. So I’m just waiting for the UFC to let me know who and when and I’ll be ready.”
