(Video) Trump impersonator offers to pardon Alec Baldwin for Rust shooting, gets threatened

A tense confrontation unfolded in New York City when comedian Jason Scoop, impersonating former President Donald Trump, approached actor Alec Baldwin with a mock pardon offer related to the tragic Rust shooting incident, leading to threats from the visibly upset actor.

The incident, captured on video, shows Scoop dressed in a navy blue suit and blonde wig approaching Baldwin as he unloaded baggage from an SUV outside his residence. In character as Trump, Scoop began heckling the actor with references to the 2021 Rust shooting tragedy.

“Alec, it’s your favourite president! Look, Alec, I will offer you a total pardon because I wanna be friends, right? I wanna be friends. I will give you a total pardon for murdering that woman if you kiss the ring,” Scoop said while holding up an oversized ring.

The comedian continued his performance by critiquing Baldwin’s past Trump impressions on Saturday Night Live and making comments about former Vice President Kamala Harris’s election loss. “Look at Alec Baldwin, right? He did that impersonation of me. It was not too hot, not too good. But look, we’re back in office. You [the Democrats] lost. Kamala [Harris] lost,” Scoop said as Baldwin initially ignored him.

The situation escalated when Baldwin finally confronted Scoop: “Look at me. I want you to look at me. You got a camera on me here? You realise my kids live in this building? But, I want you to know something. I want you to be real careful. If this camera wasn’t here, I’d snap your f****** neck in half and break your f****** neck right here. You know that, don’t you?”

Despite Baldwin’s warnings, Scoop maintained his Trump persona, repeatedly calling the interaction a “class act” before being told to leave the premises.

The confrontation comes at a sensitive time for Baldwin, who was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust set. Though the case was closed last year after Baldwin pleaded not guilty, his wife Hilaria recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with PTSD following the incident.

“He was diagnosed with PTSD, and he says in his darkest moments, ‘If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? Why couldn’t it have been me?'” Hilaria Baldwin shared earlier this month.

During the trial, Baldwin maintained that he neither pulled the trigger nor knew the gun contained real bullets.
