(VIdeo) Boxer’s brother storms the ring to punch opponent’s trainer

The highly anticipated match between Michael Zerafa and Tommy Browne took an unexpected turn on Wednesday, as the event descended into chaos after the fight. Browne, a 41-year-old from New South Wales, Australia, retired on his stool at the end of the opening round, citing an injury to his left bicep as the reason for his early exit.

However, Zerafa, who had dominated the early stages of the fight, took exception to his opponent’s withdrawal and began verbally taunting Browne from across the ring. This prompted Browne’s trainer, Tommy Mercuri, to confront Zerafa, leading to a tense standoff that was quickly broken up by security.

But the drama was far from over. In a surprising turn of events, Zerafa’s brother stormed the ring and threw a punch at Mercuri, sparking a chaotic brawl that left the commentators and spectators stunned.

“This is not good stuff,” said Fox Sports Australia commentator Ben Damon. “The fight didn’t get going, but now it’s getting ugly regardless. We need this to calm down as Michael Zerafa yells that Browne quit.”

Browne, whose injured bicep was clearly visible, tried to show Zerafa the extent of his injury, but the Melbourne puncher was unwilling to accept his opponent’s explanation. Zerafa’s brother was eventually escorted out of the venue, while Zerafa took to the mic to call out the winner of the main event between Nikita Tszyu and Koen Mazoudier.

“Man, I was in first gear,” said Zerafa. “He quit in the second round. It is what it is. Nikita, I’m coming… I want the Tszyu boys. I love all my haters. Keep on hatin’ Zerafa ain’t going nowhere.”

The incident has left a blemish on what was otherwise a promising event, and it remains to be seen how the respective parties will respond in the aftermath.
