UFC’s Sedriques Dumas live streamed arrest on felony battery, March bout compromised

TMZ Sports initially broke the news of Sedriques Dumas’ arrest in Florida after an intense altercation with law enforcement. Escambia County jail records reveal that Dumas faced charges of battery, with the incident occurring around 6:13 AM.

Sedriques Dumas took to his FaceBook page during a live session while engaging in a conversation with a police officer. The UFC combatant questioned the officers regarding their investigation, triggered by a call reporting a disturbance involving Dumas. He insisted he was merely strolling down the street to release pent-up frustration.

The call originated from a woman alleging that her boyfriend was causing a disturbance as he was “banging on the door and ringing the doorbell.” This claim vehemently denied by Dumas. He clarified that he was not involved with the woman.

Dumas stated to the officer: “I’m not her boyfriend, so that wasn’t me. We’ve been broken up. … We’re not together. I’m just f—ing walking… What, you try to say I hit her or some shit? Please don’t play with me like that.”

Despite Dumas’s denial of the allegations, the video footage captures his subsequent arrest. He is set to appear in court on March 5 to address the charges.

The uncertainty of how this incident might affect his upcoming UFC Atlantic City match against Nursulton Ruziboev on March 30 looms large.

This isn’t Sedriques Dumas’s first brush with legal issues. He also had a run-in with the police back in 2022, prior to joining the UFC. Dumas faced accusations of assaulting a woman outside a Pensacola, Florida bar. Notably, the case was closed without any arrests.

Sporting a professional record of 9-1 with a UFC record of 2-1, Dumas has had his share of ups and downs. Before a decision victory over Abu Azaitar at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, he won against Cody Brundage but suffered a second-round submission loss to Josh Fremd in his UFC debut. Dumas secured his UFC contract with a 47-second submission win on the Contender Series in August 2022.
