The MMA community is mourning the loss of a true pioneer, as reports confirm that Benji Radach, a veteran of both the UFC and Strikeforce promotions, has passed away at the age of 45. The news was first shared by Radach’s family members on social media, and additional sources have since corroborated the tragic information.
Radach’s professional fighting career spanned over a decade, beginning with his MMA debut in 2001. He quickly established himself as a formidable competitor, amassing an impressive 10-0 record before signing with the UFC in 2002. During his time in the promotion, Radach secured a win over Nick Serra, the younger brother of UFC Hall of Famer Matt Serra, before suffering a loss to Sean Sherk.
After departing the UFC, Radach continued his journey, competing in various organizations such as the IFL, Elite XC, and Strikeforce. He showcased his skills by defeating notable opponents, including Brian Foster, Gerald Harris, and Murilo Rua, the older brother of UFC legend Mauricio Rua.
Beyond his accomplishments in the cage, Radach’s actions outside of fighting also earned him recognition. In 2004, he intervened to stop a robbery at a restaurant, tackling the assailant, disarming him, and delivering a punch that resulted in a fractured jaw and the perpetrator’s unconsciousness until the authorities arrived.
The cause of Radach’s passing has not been disclosed at this time, leaving the MMA community to remember him as a true warrior and a man of valor who left an indelible mark on the sport he loved. Radach’s brother Beau announced Benji’s passing in a statement on Facebook.
