After his remarkable victory at UFC 297 in Ontario, Canada, UFC flyweight contender Jimmy Flick didn’t shy away from making bold assertions about his skills during the press conference after the match.

Jimmy Flick showcased his dominance at UFC 297 by securing a victory through a successful submission. Comparing his skills to legendary combatants like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Demian Maia, Flick confidently stated:

“People ask me how do you describe your style. Well if Khabib and Demian Maia had a baby, they would have Jimmy Flick. You got Khabib wrestling with my Demian Maia jiu-jitsu. I use my Khabib wrestling to get him to the ground. I dominate him. And I use my Demian Maia jiu-jitsu to sub him up.”

Jimmy Flick went head-to-head with Malcolm Gordon in the headline event of the flyweight division at UFC 297. The epic showdown took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. Flick’s victory came just one minute into the second round, as he submitted Gordon with a formidable arm-triangle choke.

Boasting a professional MMA record of 17 wins and 7 losses, Jimmy Flick entered UFC 297 with a two-bout losing streak. His win in Canada marked a significant comeback, showcasing his resilience and determination.

On the other side, Malcolm Gordon has a professional record of 14 wins and 8 losses. He also aimed to redeem himself after facing setbacks in his last two matches.

Malcolm Gordon started the match with strong punches and kicks. Despite the initial onslaught, Flick showcased his tenacity. As the second round unfolded, Flick began to assert control. He landed impactful strikes and executed a successful takedown.

Flick then transitioned into an arm-triangle choke, compelling Gordon to tap out. For Flick, the victory was significant. Subsequently, he said that it was the last match of his UFC contract. He then added that the organization had extended his deal after the victory.

Despite Flick’s confidence in receiving the UFC bonus for his outstanding performance, he found himself among the two winners who did not secure the $50,000 bonus. Nevertheless, Flick did not leave empty-handed. He received an additional reward, taking home 20% of Malcolm Gordon’s purse due to Gordon’s failure to make weight.
