UFC debutant claims he’s “almost happy” he lost his first UFC fight

UFC debutant Jordan Vucenic has expressed that he is “almost happy” about losing his promotional debut against Guram Kutateladze. While most athletes would be disappointed by such an outcome, Vucenic’s perspective on the situation offers a unique and thoughtful insight.

“If I would have beat Guram, his career would have been over and mine would have just begun,” Vucenic explained to insidefighting. “But because Guram won, and Alor, my journey now just starts with the UFC. And his journey gets a second chance.”

Vucenic’s empathy and concern for his opponent’s well-being is truly admirable. He recognized that a victory for him would have likely meant the end of Kutateladze’s time in the UFC, something Vucenic was not comfortable with.

“It’s not one career finishing, one starting, it’s two careers getting another chance,” Vucenic continued. “So that’s just a nice person in me though, I’m happy. Most people think, ‘F*** him man, I’ll shoot with a one and he could have f***ing got cut.’ But I’m not like that, like, I’m happy for him as well.”

This level of sportsmanship and compassion for a fellow competitor is a rare and refreshing sight in the often cutthroat world of professional sports. Vucenic’s willingness to put aside his own personal ambitions to ensure Kutateladze’s continued success speaks volumes about his character.

While the loss may have been a difficult pill to swallow in the moment, Vucenic’s forward-thinking perspective has allowed him to find the silver lining. He recognizes that his journey with the UFC is just beginning, and that his loss has ultimately opened up new opportunities for both himself and his opponent.

“It’s a nice person in me though, I’m happy,” Vucenic reiterated. “Most people think, ‘F*** him man, I’ll shoot with a one and he could have f***ing got cut.’ But I’m not like that, like, I’m happy for him as well.”
