The notorious trashtalker, Conor McGregor, asks Ariel Helwani to take it easy on Dillon Danis

Conor McGregor is one of the most captivating figures in mixed martial arts today. He is a larger-than-life personality who is always in the spotlight, whether he is in the cage or outside of it. He’s also a notorious loud mouth who got the better of most of his competitors thanks to his verbal jabs.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, MMA superstar Conor McGregor took some time out of his busy schedule to talk about the sport and his future plans, including a promise to face Nate Diaz for a third time. McGregor famously enlisted the help of Dillon Danis in order to neutralize Diaz’ BJJ and practically launched him into stardom.

Dillon Danis has been in the news recently due to his involvement in suspect crypto currency promotions in addition to pulling out of boxing debut in which he was set to face KSI.

Despite not competing in MMA since 2019, Danis has been able to maintain his notoriety through his online trolling. Danis also has a contentious relationship with Ariel Helwani.

During an appearance on the MMA Hour, Danis was asked an array of hard questions and  called out on a number of lies he’s tried to push.

And despite rumblings that McGregor and Danis are on the outs, McGregor put in a good word for Danis during his appearance on the MMA Hour.

“You know, what I would say is focus on all the good. Because you do so much good.”  – McGregor started going so far as to say there’s been a lot of negativity.

“Some… Mate, look at me. I get caught up into it too. Yeah, when you take it off, there’s a lot to be happy with and busy with.”

“You don’t need to be out for everyone.”

“when Dillon was here, I loved the little vibe he’s had back and forth (with you). Dillon’s a good friend of mine.”

Helwani countered: “He came at the king and he missed.”

“I know, but you’re going at him a bit hard. You do go at him a bit heavy. He had an injury. He’s only a young lad.”

Danis underwent two knee reconstructions in 2020 and 2021 and has been struggling to find his footing since.

McGregor went on to conclude that Danis is good for the sport of MMA.
