Muhammad Ali’s grandson turned down a multi-million dollar offer to box Jake Paul

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of the legendary Muhammad Ali, has revealed that he recently declined a lucrative offer to box YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Ali Walsh, who is carving his own path in the sport of boxing, made the disclosure during an in the ring interview following his victory over Sona Akale.

The 23-year-old Chicago-born boxer shared that he was offered a multi-million dollar contract from MVP Promotions, the company founded by Jake Paul, to step into the ring with the controversial YouTuber. However, Ali Walsh made it clear that he has no interest in being a part of the “circus league of boxing” and is instead focused on the “real league of boxing.”

“I denied a multi-million dollar contract from MVP Promotions to fight Jake Paul, and I’m fighting a real fighter tonight, so I’m not part of that circus league of boxing. This is the real League of Boxing; this is what I’m going to do,” Ali Walsh stated.

The young boxer’s decision to turn down the lucrative offer seems to be evidence that he’s wanting to establish himself on his own merits, rather than relying on the fame of his family name. Ali Walsh expressed his disappointment in hearing comments from fellow boxer Teofimo Lopez, who allegedly suggested that the young boxer was only in the sport for money and fame.

“Teofimo Lopez said in an interview a few weeks ago that before this fight, he said he disrespected my family, saying that I’m only in boxing because I’m desperate for money and fame,” Ali Walsh revealed. “It really disappointed me to hear those words from someone I looked up to so much.”

The boxer’s decision to turn down the multi-million dollar offer from Jake Paul’s company has sparked a war of words between the two, with Paul claiming that Ali Walsh “admitted he ducked” the fight. However, Ali Walsh has even challenged boxing legend George Foreman (75) to a bout, in an apparent dig at Paul’s bout against the aging Mike Tyson.
