MMA Stars Are Making Massive Bets on Trump to Win 2024 US Election

Several prominent Mixed Martial Arts stars are placing substantial wagers on the outcome of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, with betting platforms showing Donald Trump as a significant favorite.

Dillon Danis, Renato Moicano, and Bryce Mitchell have publicly shared their betting slips on social media, displaying confidence in Trump’s chances of winning the upcoming election. The fighters are using Kalshi, a predictions market platform, where Trump’s odds have reached as high as 64%.

Danis, known for his social media presence and recent boxing match, shared that he placed a $15,000 bet on Trump’s victory, which would net him $23,437 if successful. Meanwhile, UFC fighter Renato Moicano announced his intention to place “10 bands” on Trump, using informal slang for thousands of dollars.

The betting activity comes amid broader discussions about election polling accuracy. Noted pollster Nate Silver recently addressed the challenges of accurate polling in a New York Times op-ed, where he gave Trump a 53.1% chance of winning the election. Silver emphasized the importance of considering “nonresponse bias” in polling, noting that in previous elections, pollsters had difficulty reaching certain segments of Trump’s base.

However, Silver cautioned against overconfidence in any prediction, writing, “In an election where the seven battleground states are all polling within a percentage point or two, 50-50 is the only responsible forecast.”

The betting odds on prediction markets, while showing strong confidence in Trump’s chances, should not be considered reliable indicators of election outcomes. These markets reflect the collective betting activity of participants rather than scientific polling or electoral analysis.

It’s worth noting that betting on political outcomes carries significant risks, and the odds can fluctuate dramatically as Election Day approaches. Financial experts generally advise against making investment decisions based on political predictions or gambling on election outcomes.

The election is scheduled for November 5, 2024, and both campaigns continue their efforts to reach voters in key battleground states that could determine the final result.
