Former UFC welterweight Mike Perry has revealed that he’s been offered a potential MMA bout against Dillon Danis under the Misfits Boxing banner – which would mark the promotion’s first venture into mixed martial arts.
Perry made the surprising announcement during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, stating that with KSI‘s recent withdrawal from his scheduled boxing match with Danis, a new opportunity has emerged.
“KSI is out, yeah, Dillon Danis wants to fight MMA,”
“I’m saying yes, but we have to see what Mams [Taylor] is coming up over there in Misfits.”
The potential matchup represents a significant shift from what was originally planned.
“And they’re changing it completely because he was supposed to fight KSI in boxing. … Looks like the date has changed a little bit but might not be too far away,”
Perry explained.
Perry expressed confidence in his ability to handle Danis‘s grappling-heavy style:
“I’ll just stop them takedowns. He’s going to have to pull guard, and I’ve got some ground and pound, too. Let’s do it.”
According to Perry, the proposed bout would take place in April, creating a tight timeline since Danis is already scheduled to face Tony Ferguson under the GFL banner on May 29 in Los Angeles – a matchup that was officially announced Monday.
“Maybe he doesn’t want to risk that fight, and it depends on if BKFC wants to risk anything,”
Perry said, referencing his current contract with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where he hasn’t competed since stopping Thiago Alves in just 60 seconds at KnuckleMania 4 nearly a year ago.
Perry last competed in July when he faced Jake Paul in a boxing match. If this MMA bout with Danis materializes, it would represent not only Perry‘s return to MMA but also Misfits Boxing’s first foray into the sport.
“Danis is going to try and grab my foot, and I’m going to try and soccer kick him in the face. … It would be in April.”
