During a recent episode of the Overdogs USA podcast featuring Mike Perry and comedian Matan Evans, the conversation took a controversial turn when Evans made bold claims about male versus female competitors in mixed martial arts.
The debate ignited when Evans stated his opinion on the gender divide in combat sports. “Most unknown worst flyweight in the UFC, the smallest one, would probably beat all of the women and he could probably do it all on the same night,” Evans declared during the podcast discussion.
Perry initially pushed back against this perspective, noting his own training experiences. “I got choked unconscious by a female jiujitsu girl. She was a purple belt, I think, at the time,” Perry shared.
However, Matan pushed him further: “Yeah, but do you think there’s any female fighter who could have beat you in a fight? There’s no way.”
Perry acknowledged, “No, I don’t.”
When Evans continued with his claim, Perry responded by saying: ” I’m not sure what you said, but I’ll ignore it because I can’t do anything about it right now and I don’t want to get sued.”
Evans doubled down on his position, specifically targeting former women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. “I think you could get the worst flyweight and dehydrate them and they would probably, and this isn’t any disrespect to Nunes, I think they would knock her out within like maybe two and a half minutes,” he argued.
The comedian went further with his assertions, saying the hypothetical male contender could defeat multiple female competitors consecutively.
Perry appeared increasingly frustrated with the direction of the conversation, eventually telling Evans, “You don’t want me to go through a whole spill. You won’t give me no time.”
Perry ultimately refused to provide extensive commentary on the topic, stating he didn’t have strong opinions on hypothetical matchups that don’t affect him personally.
