Lia Thomas ties for fifth in 200 freestyle, gets shunned by competitors exiting the pool

Lia Thomas raised hell yesterday with the historic NCAA title. Thomas won the 500 yard swim and defeated Olympic Silver medalist Emma Weyant by 1.75 seconds. Thomas was condemned for the participation in NCAA tournament considering that most athletes believe the rules are not adequate, giving transgender athletes an unfair advantage.

Many were crushed for the 2nd place finisher considering this is her last year competing. In spite of being favored to win 200m – she failed and ultimately tied with another 5th place finisher.

Video shows Tomas exiting the pool after her lackluster finish. Several swimmer pass Thomas ignoring her and swarm and hug each other with audible cheer.

Thomas is expected to compete in the 100m race later this week.
