Khabib’s team roasts Indian UFC star for saying he could easily submit Khabib

In a bold statement that has stirred the MMA community, Indian UFC lightweight Anshul Jubli claimed he could submit former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, prompting a swift response from the Dagestani legend’s former coach.

During an appearance on The Ranveer Show, one of India’s prominent podcasts, Jubli made remarkable assertions about his abilities compared to the undefeated former champion.

“If there is something different between Khabib and me, then they are different on skill levels. But I will definitely take that chance. I have to survive the first round. Can knockout in the second round. I can submit Khabib, I can do anything,” Jubli stated.

The 30-year-old Indian fighter, who earned his UFC contract through the Road to UFC competition, even expressed readiness to face either Nurmagomedov or current champion Islam Makhachev. “If I get a call that with Khabib or with the current champion Islam if I have a fight, I will jump at that opportunity.”

However, AKA head coach Javier Mendez, who guided Nurmagomedov throughout his illustrious career, offered a reality check while maintaining a diplomatic tone.

“He’s a good kid. I don’t know why he’s saying ridiculous things like that [chuckles]. Maybe he’s trying to get attention. He’s in no position to talk like that,” Mendez said on his YouTube podcast.

Mendez emphasized the importance of credentials before making such claims: “Be a champion or be a number one contender. You wanna talk that kind of talk, but bro, I mean, what’s his record?”

The veteran coach also highlighted the vast difference in training environments, noting that Nurmagomedov’s preparation involved working with multiple world champions, including current lightweight king Islam Makhachev, and legends like Daniel Cormier and Luke Rockhold.

“I don’t think he trains with the level of people. I mean, if he had been around Khabib and he’s seen Khabib. Boy, that’s a pretty big, I don’t know. You know what King Kong looks like?” Mendez added.

While Jubli entered the UFC with an undefeated record from regional promotions, he is yet to secure his first victory in the organization, having suffered two consecutive losses since his debut on the main roster.
