UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently revealed his alternative career path would have led him to spiritual or community service work had he not pursued fighting professionally.
“I believe that I would either work in a church somehow or maybe with young men who like trouble youth type of thing,” Jones shared in a recent interview. “I’ve definitely been through my share of controversies in my life and I feel like I have a lot of knowledge to give to the youth.”
The champion fighter, known for his dominance in the octagon, expressed a genuine concern for young people growing up without proper guidance. Jones emphasized how his personal experiences—including various public controversies throughout his career—have equipped him with valuable insights that could benefit troubled youth.
“So I did see myself going down that road, giving back in that way,” Jones continued, highlighting his desire to make a positive impact outside of his fighting career.
Jones pointed to what he perceives as a societal issue affecting younger generations. “Young men don’t have good role models. I think it’s just a consistent thing that I hear all the time. It’s really sad,” he remarked.
The UFC star further elaborated on his concerns about family structures in modern America. “Especially in America, I feel like our homes are becoming more and more broken and seeing young men grow up fatherless and just seeing families broken up. I really think that’s why we are in the state that we are in today.”
Jones’s comments reveal a reflective side to the athlete that fans might not always associate with his public persona. Despite his controversial past, which includes legal troubles and public incidents, Jones appears to recognize the value his life experiences could bring to mentoring troubled youth.
While continuing to dominate in his fighting career, Jones’s comments suggest he may already be contemplating his legacy beyond the sport and how he might channel his influence toward community service in the future.
