Is Joe Rogan Dead? Twitter Hoax Sends Internet into a Meltdown

The famed podcaster Joe Rogan is once again at the center of another controversy. This time Rogan’s rumored to have passed away in a social media death hoax.

The ‘news’ surfaced on Twitter.

Various accounts had shared the hoax in multiple forms, which seemingly had become some kind of meme in the online community of Rogan detractors.

“We are saddened to announce the passing of Joe Rogan,” wrote an account called Joe Rogan Headquarters @joerogannhq.

“He died peacefully in his home this afternoon, we will provide more details as they arrive, with respect to his family’s wishes.”

Another Twitter user apparently wrote some story behind the “death” of the 54-year-old, claiming he was chasing a bird in the desert before running into a painting of a tunnel, Looney Tune style.

“I thought it was just goons doing shitposting but omfg if’s true, RIP Joe Rogan, apparently he was chasing a bird through the desert at high speed, and then ran head-first into a painting of a tunnel on the side of a mountain. I’m speechless”

While others even as far as making a somehow-believable infographic about the UFC longtime color commentator’s “passing”.

While Joe Rogan is still breathing and healthy as of today, these death hoaxes have been around on the internet for years . Some date back as far as 2010 if not earlier.

The hashtag #RIPJoeRogan even made its way into the Wikipedia of memes, Know Your Meme.

“#RIPJoeRogan, also known as RIP Joe Rogan, refers to a series of fake internet death hoaxes surrounding comedian, podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan.” the website wrote regarding the meme.

Meanwhile Joe Rogan is  still active on social media, he posted a joking reaction to UFO news.

Rogan will return to action this weekend at the UFC 273. He will be in the commentary booth along with Paul Felder and UFC’s play-by-play commentator Jon Anik.

Rogan also reacted to the rumor and appears to be in good spirits.
