In a candid discussion that has sparked widespread attention, actor Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Captain America, shared his perspective on masculinity and parenting in modern America.
“For the past 20 years, we’ve been living through the death of the American male. They have literally killed masculinity in our homes and our communities for one reason or another,” Mackie stated on The Pivot Podcast, expressing his concerns about changing social dynamics.
The actor, who has recently faced scrutiny over his comments about Captain America, opened up about his parenting philosophy and how he raises his sons. “I keep my boys humble,” he explained, noting that he maintains strict standards despite his celebrity status.
Mackie emphasized the importance of traditional values in his household, particularly in raising his three sons. “My boys will always be respectful. They will always say, yes, sir, yes, ma’am, no, sir, no, ma’am. They will always say thank you. They will always open the door for a lady,” he shared.
The actor revealed how he instills responsibility in his 15-year-old son when away for work: “Every time I left for a job, I tell my 15 year old, you’re the man of the house. You make sure these doors are locked every night. This alarm is on. You text me or you call me every night before you go to bed and you wake up.”
Following recent controversy over his Captain America comments, Mackie took to Instagram to clarify his stance: “Let me be clear about this, I’m a proud American, and taking on the shield of a hero like CAP is the honor of a lifetime. I have the utmost respect for those who serve and have served our country.”
His statements have generated significant discussion across social media platforms, with various public figures and fans weighing in on the debate about modern masculinity and its role in American society.
