Guest Puts Joe Rogan On The Spot After He Boasts About Benefits Of BPC 157

During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, neuroscientist Dr. Tommy Wood pushed back on host Joe Rogan’s enthusiasm for peptide therapy, specifically BPC 157.

The exchange occurred while Rogan and Wood were discussing supplement protocols for Formula 1 drivers, whom Wood works with as head scientist for motorsport at Hintsa Performance.

When the conversation turned to peptides and their potential benefits for tissue recovery, Rogan eagerly brought up BPC 157, citing its reputation among professional athletes for accelerating healing from injuries.

“There’s plenty of anecdotal evidence, especially with professional athletes, with BPC 157 and TB500 particularly for tissue injuries, for recovering quicker from tissue injuries,” Rogan stated, clearly hoping to get Wood’s professional endorsement.

Wood’s response was measured but firm. “I know there’s anecdote. I know that people say it benefits them. In the environments that I operate in, that’s not enough,” he explained.

Rogan then pressed him about studies showing BPC 157 increases tissue recovery. He stated: “But there are studies that show the BPC 157 increases tissue recovery and helps you heal.”

Wood delivered the uncomfortable truth: “Not in humans.”

Rogan attempted to draw a comparison to C0VID vaccine trials, suggesting that similar standards of evidence had been accepted in that case.

He mentioned: “Same thing with the C0VID vaccine. They weren’t tested in humans either before they started trying them.”

Wood pushed back immediately, clarifying that vaccine development included human trials.

He said: “There were some there was for the first wave of C0VID 19 vaccines. There were some some pretty good quality trials.”

Wood also explained why he could not recommend peptides like BPC-157 without stronger safeguards in place.

“I couldn’t recommend it unless I know it’s third-party tested, it’s legal, and there’s a high-quality trial in humans,” he stated. “All those things have to align.”
