Former UFC Champ Tito Ortiz can’t get even a single detail about his relationship right

In what could only be described as an awkward podcast moment, former mixed martial arts champion Tito Ortiz demonstrated that remembering the timeline of his own relationship might be more challenging than his opponents in the octagon.

During a recent podcast appearance alongside his wife Amber Nicole, Ortiz stumbled through what should have been simple questions about their relationship history.

When asked by the podcast host about how long the couple had been together, Ortiz confidently responded, “Gosh, we’ve known each other since 2021.”

His wife Amber quickly jumped in to correct him: “No, 2001.”

The correction prompted Ortiz to repeat “2001” in agreement, seemingly unaware of his 20-year miscalculation moments earlier.

The exchange became even more revealing when the host inquired about how they met, to which Amber simply stated, “Just 20 years,” suggesting a lengthy history that her husband had completely misstated.

The moment has since caught attention on social media, with fans noting Ortiz’s difficulty recalling basic details about the relationship. Some commenters pointed out that mixing up dates by two decades is quite significant, especially regarding one’s personal life partner.

This isn’t the first time Ortiz has made public gaffes, as the former champion has occasionally found himself the subject of attention for statements made outside of his athletic career.

Previously Ortiz mistakenly claimed that his 2021 boxing match against Anderson Silva took place in 1999. The bout itself was a disaster for Ortiz, as Silva knocked him out in under two minutes. Ortiz blamed his poor performance on drastic weight-cutting, stating he hadn’t been that light since college. However, in reality, he failed to make weight and was five pounds over the agreed limit. Despite his excuses, Ortiz’s recollection of events seems as shaky as his footwork in the ring.

“His[Silva] boxing career has been amazing. You know, when I took the fight against Anderson, I had a month before the fight to prepare for it. And the whole month was literally a cut weight. And Anderson was a smart guy trying to get me down to 195 pounds.” Ortiz said.

“I’ve never been down to 195 pounds since my freshman year in college. But, making that weight to 200, it was really really hard. If you can understand, I’ve never made 200 pounds since uhh 1999 when I fought Anderson Silva.” Ortiz said.

He continued, “I think my whole camp was strictly just cutting weight, hitting mitts and sparring. That’s all I did. I wish I had more time to prepare for it.”

Representatives for Ortiz have not commented on the podcast mishap, but the clip continues to circulate online as an example of an endearingly awkward moment between the long-time couple.
