Sports media giant ESPN, through prominent analyst Stephen A. Smith, has predicted Logan Paul would emerge victorious in a potential exhibition boxing match against Conor McGregor in India.
The speculation began after McGregor announced on his X account that he was in “preliminary agreements with the Ambani family” for the exhibition event. “I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” McGregor stated.
Smith’s analysis on ESPN’s First Take emphasized Paul’s physical advantages and experience. “I think Logan Paul is going to beat him,” Smith said. “Logan Paul is going to win because I don’t think Conor is a boxer; he’s a striker. He’s just sitting up there, not even throwing. You ain’t clipping Logan Paul like that. No, you have to do more than that.”
The size difference between the two competitors appears to be a crucial factor. Paul stands at 6 feet 2 inches (188 cm), while McGregor measures 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm). “I just think that Logan Paul is bigger. Um, he’s a much bigger man, and he’s a more experienced boxer,” Smith added.
McGregor’s extended absence from competition since July 2021, following an injury against Dustin Poirier, could also impact his performance. The announcement has particularly surprised UFC enthusiasts who expected McGregor to face Michael Chandler upon his return.
The proposed exhibition has garnered significant attention, with the involvement of India’s Ambani family adding an international dimension to the potential matchup. McGregor recently faced legal challenges, resulting in a court-ordered payment of approximately $270,000 in damages related to a 2018 incident.
