This significant move comes as part of A24’s production ‘The Smashing Machine’. This venture is poised to look into the gripping narrative of Kerr’s life during the no-holds-barred era of UFC.
Produced and financed by the company, the film reunites them with Benny Safdie. He co-wrote and co-directed one of their biggest blockbusters, Uncut Gems ($50 million at the American box office). The script of The Smashing Machine was also written by Safdie.
Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions secured the rights to the project back in 2019. This ambitious cinematic endeavor marks a collaborative effort between the production house and Benny Safdie.
Eli Bush, David Koplan, and Safdie’s Out for the Count banner will produce alongside Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks.
