Documentary on Trans MMA Fighter to premiere in Theaters

Fuse Media has announced its entry into film with the theatrical release of the ViX original documentary Unfightable. From Emmy Award-Winning director and producer Marc J. Perez (Severe Clear, Anytown USA) and La Jaula Studios, Unfightable is the story of Alana McLaughlin, a distinguished U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant and transgender athlete fighting for control of her life and her narrative by competing as a professional MMA fighter.

Unfightable will make its theatrical debut with a one-week run in New York beginning September 13 at the Village East Theater, followed by a week-long run in Los Angeles at Laemmle Noho 7. The documentary will make its exclusive world television premiere for Spanish language audiences on ViX, the leading Spanish-language streaming service in the world, and in English on Fuse, in the coming months. THR was the first to break the news.

“Alana McLaughlin’s story reflects Fuse Media’s true mission: celebrating diversity and inclusion and vocally supporting and confirming any individual’s understanding of their true identity,” said Miguel Roggero, Chairman and CEO, Fuse Media. “We are proud to celebrate the trans community by sharing this important documentary as we continue to push the boundaries of the types of stories we tell on an ever-growing number of platforms, including linear, streaming, FAST, and now theatrical.”

“I found Alana’s story so incredibly moving that La Jaula Studios had to be the one to tell it to the world,” said Perez.

McLaughlin was widely criticized despite flaw debut with the issue being a hot button in the community. It later came out that Combate Global was also sponsoring her entire camp – something they don’t do for any other athletes.

McLaughlin struggled to find her footing in the community as of late, with MMA taking the backseat and majority of her time on social media spent on War in Gaza and other issues.
