BJJ Ace Dillon Danis threw shade at the newly crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. The controversial figure shared a picture of Islam Makhachev in a pool with a woman.
Dillon Danis is best known as Conor McGregor’s grappling coach and sparring partner. He made headlines mostly during the build up for Khabib Nurmagomedov event at UFC 229 back in 2018.
He was the one Nurmagomedov had assaulted in anti climactic cage jumping incident.
Danis is 2-0 in professional MMA and hasn’t competed again since 2019, having undergone two knee reconstructions.
But the rivalry between two camps isn’t dying down as evidenced by comments both Danis and McGregor made in moments following UFC 280.
Dagestani athletes are devout Muslims as such they often express archaic views about women and notably refuse to even shake hands.
The most recent one was when he shared a picture of someone that looks like Islam Makhachev in a swimming pool.
However, the picture went viral on the internet as the guy that looks like Makhachev is holding a woman in a bikini from behind. Danis also added a caption saying, “haram” on the picture.
Not long after, someone revealed that Dillon Danis just screen captured it from a video. In the real footage, it’s pretty clear that it’s actually Islam Makhachev and he was just playing in the swimming pool with a man. The young man has long hair and Danis’ screen captured it as to mislead his sizeable audience.
Islam Makhachev himself is a married man. Just like his friend and coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Makhachev chose not to expose his partner in life to the eyes of the general public. Makhachev got married in April 2021. Several pictures and videos of his wedding got spread online, showing several other UFC stars such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tughukov.
Makhachev also shared he had an infant at home he was looking forward to seeing after UFC 280.
