In a recent interview with CNN’s Laura Coates, UFC CEO Dana White shared his thoughts on the current political climate and the potential replacement of President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris.
When asked about his stance on politics, White maintained his position of being “not political.” He stated, “I don’t judge people by their politics and who they vote for or any of that stuff.” However, when it came to the possibility of Harris becoming the Democratic nominee, White did not hold back.
“Listen, I don’t know Kamala. She seems like she’s a nice person. I have nothing against her whatsoever and, like I said, I’m not political, but do I think that she’s fit for the job? I do not, personally,” White said.
Despite his personal opinion, White emphasized that he tries to avoid discussing politics, as he believes it is a “no-fun topic.” He acknowledged that regardless of who becomes the next president, there will be those who are dissatisfied with the outcome.
“But either way, she’s going to say other nasty stuff about both of them. It goes both ways,” White said. “And as voters, what we need to do is cut through all the BS and you have to look at who do you think is best fit to run the country for the next four years. That is our job as voters. All of this stuff is a bunch of nasty BS.”
White’s comments come as no surprise, given his long-standing relationship with former President Donald Trump. The UFC CEO has been seen with Trump at several UFC events over the past few years, including UFC 302 in June in Newark, New Jersey, which was headlined by Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier for the lightweight title.
Regardless of his political leanings, White made it clear that he is not one to disclose his beliefs on non-fighting-related matters. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it remains to be seen how White’s comments will be received by the broader public.
