Comedian Bill Burr recently revealed that his Twitter account was flagged for “inappropriate” content after criticizing Elon Musk during a stand-up routine.
During his performance, Burr called out Musk’s actions on the social media platform, referring to him as “the Twitter guy” and criticizing him for coming from South Africa to the United States and attempting to change its form of government.
“Can you imagine doing that? Going to another country and just deciding ‘yeah, you know what, I’m gonna change this form of government because I’ve decided,'” Burr said during his set. He went on to describe Musk as someone who “doesn’t mind living under a dictatorship as long as he’s on the good side of it.”
The comedian, known for his unfiltered commentary, mentioned that he rarely uses Twitter anymore but discovered through his emails that his account had been flagged. “What a baby,” Burr remarked about the flagging of his account.
This incident has sparked discussions about free speech on the platform, with many social media users expressing support for Burr’s candid criticism. Several commenters noted that this appears to conflict with Musk’s previous statements about making Twitter a platform for free speech.
Burr’s experience has led many to question the consistency of these policies and their implementation.
In response to the flagging, Burr remained defiant, challenging the platform with “Hey, oh, now what are you going to do? Reflag my account?”
The comedian’s supporters have praised his willingness to speak out, with many viewing his criticism as a rare example of a public figure directly challenging Musk’s management of the platform.
