Former welterweight contender Carson Jones has passed away at the age of 38 due to complications following throat surgery, leaving the boxing community in mourning.
Jones, who hailed from Oklahoma City, was known for his remarkable resilience and determination throughout his professional career. His final appearance in the ring came in 2023, where he secured a second-round knockout victory over James Warren. He concluded his career with an impressive record of 44 wins, 16 losses, and 3 draws, including 32 knockouts.
The highlight of Jones’ career came in 2012 when he faced future world champion Kell Brook in a memorable showdown in Sheffield, England. Despite entering as the underdog, Jones delivered an extraordinary performance in a grueling 12-round contest that left both competitors tested to their limits. Although he fell short via majority decision, his showing earned widespread acclaim from the boxing community.
