In a recent appearance on Tim Welch‘s podcast, popular MMA content creator “MMA Guru” shared insights about his viral interview with UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell, which garnered over 140,000 views in just 17 hours.
“Me and Bryce Mitchell were a match made in heaven,”
Guru explained, describing the natural chemistry they had during their conversation.
“With Bryce Mitchell, I said hello to him and he called Elon Musk the Antichrist that wants to use the mark of the beast on the citizens of America – so I didn’t need to plan too much.”
The UK-based YouTuber, who recently reached 100 million views after six years of consistent content creation, discussed his approach to interviews, noting that he prefers to let fighters express themselves rather than creating “gotcha” moments.
“I don’t take things too seriously. I don’t have to agree with everything someone says,”
he explained regarding his interview style with controversial figures like Mitchell.
Mitchell went on quite a rant while talking to Guru going on to say things like
“I have German Heritage and I’m not afraid to talk about my German Heritage.”
The Arkansas native then proceeded to make questionable assertions about Adolf Hitler and World War II history.
“I never said H*tler was perfect but I’m just telling you there is more to the history than what you learn in school,”
Mitchell claimed. He added a peculiar criticism of H*tler’s military strategy:
“H*tler did some dumb s*it. He invaded Russia in the winter. How dumb does it get?”
Mitchell expressed frustration about the backlash to his historical opinions, claiming he’s been unfairly targeted.
“I’ve never hurt nobody, I’ve never hated nobody, I’ve never produced any hate speech you will not find it,”
Mitchell insisted.
“And anybody that wants to debate me they can come get schooled and bring a notepad and a pencil because you’re gonna have to write down the shift that I say because there’s so much of it you won’t be able to take it all in at once.”
He went on to deny claims that he was mentally slow as a result of bad genes calling out the media:
“If any of them is not a coward then invite me on their show I debate these sons of b**** and I will make them look like fools because their knowledge is inferior,”
Mitchell challenged.
“I base my confidence off of my knowledge my knowledge comes from my research.”
“People can come out and call me an inbred r*tard,”
Mitchell stated matter-of-factly.
“And both of those are completely untrue statements.”
Reflecting on his YouTube journey, Guru shared how he persevered through four years of minimal growth before finding success:
“When your life’s good, you think you want more and you think you can get more, but my life was terrible when I was younger. I hated it so I needed this.”
He emphasized the importance of consistency and authenticity in building his channel, explaining that he chose to keep production values low initially to let viewers feel part of his growth journey.
Guru also revealed plans to visit the United States this summer, with stops in New York, Florida, Arizona, Arkansas (where he has a fishing trip planned with Mitchell), and Los Angeles. He discussed his content strategy during slow news weeks in MMA and his future plans to help fund regional stars in the UK.
When asked about social media feuds, Guru explained his newfound philosophy of not “punching down” and avoiding prolonged online arguments. He also shared his perspective on upcoming UFC matchups, including Bryce Mitchell vs. Jean Silva, Islam Makhachev vs. Ilia Topuria, and Paddy Pimblett vs. Michael Chandler.
