At the recent Noche UFC event in Paradise, Nevada, fighter Irene Aldana suffered what many are calling the most severe laceration ever witnessed in the sport’s history. The incident occurred during her bout against Norma Dumont in the women’s bantamweight division.
The clash, which took place on the preliminary card of the event formerly known as UFC 306, saw Aldana sustain a massive cut on her forehead following an accidental collision of heads with her opponent. Despite the injury, the Mexican athlete displayed remarkable courage, continuing to compete until the final bell.

Dr. Greg Tsu, a UFC physician, recently shared the aftermath of Aldana’s injury on social media, revealing the true extent of the damage. The laceration extended from Aldana’s hairline down her forehead to her eyebrow, before curving around the middle of her nose. An additional cut was also visible above her right eye and below her eyebrow.
In his post, Dr. Tsu praised Aldana’s resilience, stating, “Irene Aldana, such a strong & courageous human. What a superstar. Godspeed in healing!” He also expressed his honor in being able to assist with her treatment.
The severity of the injury required extensive medical attention, with numerous stitches needed to close the wound. The image shared by Dr. Tsu has sparked discussions among fans and professionals alike, with many considering it the most significant cut in UFC history.

Despite her valiant efforts, Aldana ultimately lost the bout to Dumont via unanimous decision. The judges’ scorecards were identical, reading 30-27 across the board in favor of Dumont.
The Noche UFC event, renamed in recognition of Mexican Independence Day, featured a total of ten bouts. The main event saw Merab Dvalishvili claim the UFC bantamweight championship from Sean O’Malley in a unanimous decision victory.
