Donald Trump plays down tension with Joe Rogan weeks after calling for UFC fans to boo Rogan

Former President Donald Trump has softened his stance on popular podcast host Joe Rogan, just weeks after a public spat that left many wondering about the future of their relationship.

The tension began when Rogan praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, calling him “much more reasonable and intelligent” than other candidates. This comment drew criticism from conservative circles and prompted Trump to lash out on social media, suggesting Rogan might face boos at future UFC events.

However, in a recent interview with Lex Fridman, Trump downplayed any animosity between them. “I don’t think there was any tension and I’ve always liked him, but I don’t know him,” Trump stated. He went on to say that he’s only met Rogan briefly at UFC events, where they’ve exchanged handshakes.

Interestingly, Trump revealed that he has never been invited to appear on Rogan’s podcast. “I guess I’d do it, but I haven’t been asked and I’m not asking them. I’m not asking anybody,” he said. This disclosure comes as a surprise to many, given the podcast’s massive reach and influence.

Trump’s apparent olive branch to Rogan included acknowledging the host’s support for Kennedy. “He’s sort of a liberal guy I guess, but he likes Kennedy. I like that he likes Kennedy. I do too,” Trump commented, referencing Kennedy’s recent alignment with his campaign.

However, Rogan’s past statements suggest that an invitation to Trump may not be forthcoming. In a 2022 interview, Rogan made it clear that he had no interest in hosting Trump on his show. “I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form,” Rogan said at the time. “I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once, I’ve said no every time. I don’t want to help him.”

Rogan has previously described Trump as a “polarizing figure” and “an existential threat to democracy itself.” He has also expressed support for other political figures, including Senator Bernie Sanders and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
