Dana White once again took aim at the mainstream media, this time targeting CNN. The outspoken executive joined CNN’s Laura Coates on Friday evening to discuss his support of former President Donald Trump, as well as his recent introduction of the Republican nominee at the Republican National Convention.
During the interview, Coates turned the conversation to the ongoing temperature of the political campaigns, citing Republicans who have described Vice President Kamala Harris as a “DEI” hire. However, White was quick to dismiss the attacks on Harris, responding calmly but firmly.
“I don’t like to get involved in all that stuff,” White said. “I’m just here to talk about my support for the former president and what I think he can do for the country.”
White’s comments come as no surprise, as the UFC boss has long been critical of the mainstream media’s coverage of political issues. In the past, he has accused outlets like CNN and Fox News of unnecessarily “fluffing” about the ongoing debates between Trump and Harris.
“They just want to divide people,” White said in a separate interview. “They’re not interested in the real issues or what’s best for the country. They just want to create drama and controversy.”
The UFC’s relationship with the media has been a contentious one, with White often clashing with reporters and journalists he deems unfair or biased. This has led to the organization’s decision to establish itself as an independent entity, with its own set of regulations and media policies.
“We don’t need to rely on the backing of traditional media channels,” White said. “We’ve built our own platform and our own audience, and we’re not beholden to anyone else’s agenda.”
Despite his frequent criticisms of the media, White has maintained a respectful approach towards reporters and journalists who attend his events, reserving his ire for those he deems unfit or untrustworthy.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether White will remain a vocal supporter of former President Trump or if he will shift his allegiances in the future. But one thing is certain: the UFC CEO will continue to speak his mind, regardless of the consequences.
