UFC superstar Conor McGregor has taken to Twitter to call for “armed protection” at every school in the wake of the recent deadly school incidentin Nashville, Tennessee.
As a father of three young children, the former two-division champion has personal experience with providing armed security at his children’s school.
McGregor’s call for action comes after he received an Amber Alert on his phone while in Orlando, Florida. He praised the system for quickly alerting everyone about a missing child, and suggested that schools should have armed guards like the one he employs to protect his children.
The Nashville shooting claimed the lives of three students and three adults at the Covenant School. The shooter, Audrey Hale, entered the school with two assault-style guns and a 9 mm pistol. McGregor believes that armed guards at the school could have prevented the tragedy.
McGregor’s call for armed protection at every school is not without merit. In recent years, there have been numerous school shootings across the United States, leaving many parents concerned for their children’s safety.
